Power of the Tongue

Jesus said that if a man '...believes what he says will happen..." it will be done for him. He also said that "for every idle word that men shall speak he shall give an account thereof in the day of judgment." Your words matter!!! It's amazing! As a pastor I see the light turn on when someone hears their own voice through a sound system. It's like "wow! I can hear myself and man has it got power!" It is also amazing how the same people might hear a recording of their own voice and be totally turned off by it. Why? Because they are not use to hearing it from any other source than from within. Their "inner ear." The first person to hear your attitude, your level (or lack) of faith, your emotional outburst is….YOU! And it has an impact. If inanimate objects obey your voice, and they do (mountains and fig trees ring a bell?), then don't you know that what you say is impacting your spirit and soul in a tremendous way? It sure does! So guard your heart and renew your mind by guarding and renewing the words that come out of your mouth during the day.
